Stereoscopic 3D and 2D production company Digital Revolution Studios (DRS) won its first Telly Award for the “Use of 3D” in Bullproof. The original series, Bullproof, which premiered May 5, 2011 on the 3D channel, 3net (a joint venture of Sony, Discovery and IMAX), is an innovative television series, being the first “sportumentary” series to be filmed entirely in 3D. Not only does Bullproof incorporate the use of groundbreaking technology, but Bullproof is an action-packed, adventure-filled series. For a sneak peek of Bullproof, see the video below.

Accepting the Bronze 2011 Telly Award for DRS is the Director of Bullproof, Craig Tanner, and Stereoscopic Supervisor, Wayan Palmieri. “Bullproof was a lot of fun to work on. From needing to engineer a cost-effective, lightweight 3D rig that was easy for one cameraman to maneuver when a 2,000 pound bull was charging at him, this production gave DRS the ability to shine,” said Tanner, President of DRS. “It took a great team, and I wish I could name all the 50+ team members that worked on this show.”
Perhaps the foremost reason for Bullproof winning a 2011 Telly Award is that the DRS creative team prioritized how stereoscopic 3D, both live action and visual effects, including 2D-3D conversion, could better tell the heroic stories behind the bullfighters’ efforts to save the bullriders. “The ‘run and gun’ style of filming necessary for this action-packed show pushed the limits of what was possible in 3D,” added Palmieri, DRS Stereoscopic Supervisor.
