The National Stereoscopic Association’s 37th annual 3D convention kicks off on Tuesday at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Loveland.
The conference, running Tuesday through July 18, will feature 3D workshops for a variety of skill levels, a 3D trade fair, a 3D Art Gallery with modern and historic exhibits and nightly independent 3D video and slide shows.
Rob Engle from Sony Pictures will give a visual presentation on July 15, describing some of his experiences working in 3D cinematography including “The Polar Express,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Smurfs” and “Green Hornet;” he is currently in production on “The Amazing Spiderman.”
The Saturday evening entertainment will feature the Annual Stereoscopic Awards Banquet followed by a special live presentation of Charles Phoenix and the Third Dimension. Phoenix, a frequent entertainer in Las Vegas and on television talk shows, will present an eyepopping 3D slideshow featuring more than a century of 3D images – from the Stereoscopes of the Victorian era to the early sci-fi 3D of the 1950s to today.
Registration for the convention in $120 (on-site registration available only), single-day registration is $30-$50, $10 for entrance to single events.
