DESCRIPTION

Stereographic filmmaking is the newest craze in Hollywood, in spite of the fact that 3D has been around almost as long as conventional cinema. Shooting a 3D film has become much more accessible in these days of digital video, miniature cameras and affordable digital editing systems.

In this webinar, presented by award winning IMAX cinematographer James Neihouse, you will learn the basics of 3D/Stereo cinematography, beginning with the terminology then stepping though the process and methods of shooting in 3D. You will learn about 3D rigs, setting up the cameras, the effects of interaxial distance (the distance between the lenses), convergence of the cameras, screen size, and 3D editing techniques.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Beginning, intermediate or potential 3D filmmakers; photography buffs; home video enthusiasts or anyone with an interest in how 3D films are made.

PREREQUISITE

There are no prerequisites to attending the webinar, only a keen interest in the world of 3D filmmaking is required. However, basic knowledge of photographic/cinematographic principals and will be helpful, as will an understanding of Final Cut Pro editing software, but none of these are mandatory.

PRESENTER

James Neihouse is an award-winning director of photographer who has been working with 3D for over twenty years. His 3D credits include the award winning IMAX film Space Station 3D, IMAX NASCAR 3D, and the newly released IMAX HUBBLE 3D. He has trained ten space shuttle/space station crews to shoot 3D IMAX in space. With more than thirty-five other IMAX and large format credits, Neihouse is one of the leading cinematographers in the field.

MODERATOR

Marcelo Lewin is the CEO and founder of NewMediaWebinars.com, which creates webinars for and by digital media creators. Previously, he founded and was the CEO of Pixel Heads Network, a company that produced audio and video podcast shows focused on digital media creators. Pixel Heads Network was acquired by ProMAX Systems in 2008. In 1999, he created My Internet Desktop, an “OS on the web” company, way ahead of its time, it was acquired by Internet Appliance Network in 2000.

He is also the host of The Digital Scene, a web show where he interviews digital media creators and industry insiders in various expos, meet-ups and events.

Having also worked for a variety of companies, from Walt Disney Imagineering to NBC to Toyota, he is always on the forefront of interactive media, digital filmmaking and new media projects.
