Intel chairman Craig Barrett urged CES attendees to take steps to aid underdeveloped nations, and introduced a Small Things Challenge, during his CES keynote Friday.
“Our technology can be used in creative ways to solve real world problems, like hunger, poverty and education,” he said. “They need access to inexpensive technology, connectivity and content, but perhaps more important is education.”
He outlined several initiatives. Among them: A new interactive game developed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, designed to help underprivileged children learn about health.
The Small Things Challenge site offers links to Save the Children and other initiatives. Intel is donating a nickel for every click.
Also appearing at the keynote to rally the crowd were Adam Duritz of the band Counting Crows and Adam Levine of Maroon 5.
