Panasonic's leviathan 3D enabled TX-P65VT30 Plasma TV is an extra dimensional bundle of fun

[by HDTV Org (UK)]

Yes, there are much bigger TV screens around, but in terms of sheer 3D thrills and all round accomplishment, Panasonic’s TX-P65VT30 is a tough act to follow.

Equipped with Infinite Black Pro 2 panel technology, THX certification and updated panel design, Panasonic’s 3D enabled VT30 Plasma TVs have certainly not rested on their laurels in 2011.

Despite in many industry insiders views, leading the 3D TV pack since the widespread adoption of the technology began to gather momentum, Panasonic have sought to stay ahead of their competitors by improving on what many believe to be the best 3D TVs around.

NeoPDP technology has now evolved into ‘NeoPlasma’, the introduction of fast switching phosphors being the main element in the evolution of the technology. The VT30 will also feature Infinite Black Pro 2 along with High Contrast Filter Pro for deeper blacks and higher contrast ratios.

Panasonic describe Infinite Black Pro as a system which “raises the luminous efficiency while minimizing pre-discharge, resulting in even more subtle, delicate blacks, in both dark and bright environments.”

As far as 3D capability goes, Panasonic are claiming to have reduced crosstalk (which was pretty minimal on the VT20). The new panels bring with them an upgraded frame-interpolation processor for 3D which has been designed to make 24p video appear smoother.

3D TV in the home gets more watchable and more dramatic as your screen gets bigger. Combine a 65in panel with arguably one of the most accomplished flat panel TVs ever built and you have the perfect recipe for supreme extra dimensional thrills. In fact, the TX-P65VT30 provides what is in our opinion one of the best home entertainment experiences money can buy.

In many peoples eyes, the achilles heal of LCD and Plasma TVs from Panasonic, over conservative styling, has at least been partly addressed with a new single sheet glass design which covers the whole screen and bezel. While not nearly as glamorous as Samsung’s stunning D8000, the stylistic touch is a welcome departure from the overly conservative pre 2011 models.

Elsewhere you get an enhanced implementation of Panasonic’s IPTV Viera Connect service along with Skype video/voice calling.

The VT30 series of Plasma TVs are available in the UK now.
