Sony has just announced a leaner TV lineup with a renewed emphasis on picture quality for the Asia Pacific market. The Japanese electronics giant said this simplifies the buying decision for consumers, thanks to a clearer distinction between key features offered by these new entries. Leading the pack are the flagship HX-series Bravia TVs, followed by their high-end NX-series and midrange EX-series counterparts. …
Other notable new capabilities available for the 2012 HX-, NX- and EX-series are as follows:
- Sony Entertainment Network: The company’s enhanced Internet (read: Smart) TV platform with a new intuitive dashboard and an Opera TV Store. The latter enables users to download apps for accessing Web-based content and services such as 3D Experience. However, note that the Web browser supports the upcoming HTML5 standard instead of Adobe Flash.
- 3D Experience: A collection of sample 3D videos such as popular PlayStation game demo clips, as well as movie trailers to test drive your Sony 3D TV.
- Premium 3D glasses (TDG-BR750): These active shutter 3D glasses weigh 34g and come with a lightweight titanium frame, USB recharging and adjustable nose pads.
- Wi-Fi Direct and Media Throw: Provides cross-platform content sharing between Sony products such as Vaio laptops, Xperia smartphones and Bravia TVs. A Media Throw function can be used to display photos and videos directly from your mobile devices on a big screen or to stream music to Sony’s HomeShare-series wireless speakers.
- Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL): Uses a regular HDMI cable to control and access mobile apps (such as games) in compatible devices. This is in addition to 1080p video and multichannel surround sound playback. Compatible Sony products include all 2012 Xperia smartphones and Bravia TVs.
- 2012 Bunchin stand for HX855: A streamlined version of Sony’s original speaker stand boasting multiple woofers for improved bass reproduction.
