The latest Internet-enabled TVs are here, and these ones come from Vizio, a company that plans to launch its flagship 3D TVs by the end of the year.
The release of the new slate of LED sets to its XVT line is a precursor to Vizio’s next step which is its official entry into the steroscopic 3D market.
For now, the latest displays come with full 1080p 240 Hz playback and are available in sizes of 42, 47, and 55 inches. With a 10 million to 1 contrast ratio and as much as 160 zones of backlighting, these sets are going to be formidable competitors for your living room.
Vizio’s “Via” platform is also included, which gives users access to a whole bunch of Internet applications like Netflix and Pandora directly from their TV without the need for an external box or wireless connection.
They range in price up to around $2,200 for the 55-incher. However, we can’t help but wonder if they will be underwhelmed by the existing 3D sets on the market now, which are available with similar feature sets for around the same price. Additionally, Vizio fans may want to wait just a couple more months to check out the company’s 3D models.
$2,200 is a lot to plunk down on a TV these days, and consumers might be really hesitant to put that kind ofmoney on the line when they know they won’t be prepared for the next generation of home content.
