Now this is an odd story. Deadline is reporting that although Sony Pictures used to be 100% set to releaseMartin Scorsese’s newest film Hugo Cabret in 3D (based on Brian Selznick’s bestselling novel), even setting a date in early December, Paramount is going to be taking over distribution and moving it up to Thanksgiving instead. So now Hugo Cabret, more of a family film starring Chloe Moretz, Asa Butterfield, Jude Law, Emily Mortimer and Ben Kingsley, is now set to open 17 days earlier on Wednesday, November 23rd. The decision mostly came from production company GK Films, who wanted to move the release up.
